Born Local. Growing Global.
Parallel Film Collective is an organization committed to promoting, producing and distributing independent film and mixed media arts that reflect a ‘Local = Global’ culture. With an emphasis on diverse communities, we partner with filmmakers, artists and organizations that share a vision of a new wave of global independent film and mixed media arts. We are local distribution partners with African American Film Festival Releasing Movement (AFFRM) featuring Sundance award-winning Middle of Nowhere, Jamaican independent film Better Mus’ Come and Neil Drumming’s hip-hop comedy Big Words. We also host regular film screenings and mixers called Hair In The Gate. Films screened at Hair In The Gate have gone onto be selections at Hollywood Black Film Festival, San Diego Latino Film Festival, Zanzibar International Film Festival and Venice Film Festival. We are also pleased to have supported awarding-winning films Mother of George, Zinda Bhaag, the documentary Fire in the Blood and Troop 491: The Adventure of the Muddy Lions produced in Richmond, Virginia.
