    Parallel Film Collective is the Washington, D.C., Maryland and Virginia distribution partner for AFFRM (African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement) + ARRAY Releasing. Our first film with AFFRM + ARRAY Releasing was the Sundance Award-winning film Middle of Nowhere. Since then we have partnered in releasing Jamaican art house film Better Mus’ ComeSlamdance hip-hop dramedy Big Words and documentary Vanishing Pearls

    A collective dedicated to promoting global images that transcend limiting racial, cultural and gender identities found in mainstream media. We partner with individuals and organizations equally committed to furthering innovative and diverse voices, in our effort to produce, distribute and exhibit independent film and media that elevate new transcultural identities.

    General Information

    Parallel Film Collective is a non-profit organization focused on promoting new images beyond the mainstream. Started by alumni and students of Howard University, we are also proud local distribution partners for AFFRM (African-American Film Festival Releasing Movement) including for award-winning Middle of Nowhere. We have also partnered with other distribution companies in presenting the awarding-winning Indian documentary Fire In The Blood andTroop 491: The Adventure of the Muddy Lions and in promoting the Pakistani film Zinda Bhaag and Mother of George. Parallel Film Collective also hosts HAIR IN THE GATE Mixer, Music, Film Screening at Marvin Restaurant.
