Montré Aza Missouri

FOUNDER | Executive Creative Director

Montré is a Washington DC native, film studies and cultural studies writer, filmmaker and an Associate Professor in Film at Howard University. She has lived and worked in the UK, Ghana and Nigeria and is passionate about independent film and visual culture. Montré is also the author of recent film studies text Black Magic Woman and Narrative Film: Race, Sex and Afro-Religiosity and her interest is in images of Yorùbá Atlantic-Religions, sexuality and racial/cultural hybridity in film and visual culture.



Kimberly C.  Gaines

Cultural & community Engagement Director

An experienced arts education and community arts advocate, Kimberly has worked at Duke Ellington School of the Arts, CentroNía and is now involved in the launch of #HS48 the first ever 48 Hour Film for teens. She is  also Creative Director of DeanwoodxDesign as well as her own photography and graphic design firm sondai expressions creative, llc. Kimberly was a programmer for WPFW 89.3 FM's Sophies Parlor one the first all women's radio shows featuring independent music produced by women and she has been awarded funding from the American Association of University Women (AAUW) for community and educational work. 



Andrea R. Thompson

Development Director

With over a decade of experience arts and culture nonprofit administration, Andrea is currently Development Director at the Afro Latin Jazz Alliance in New York City and for Parallel Film Collective. She has worked with the Smithsonian Institution, The Washington Performing Arts Society, the Port Discovery Children’s Museum and WPFW (89.3fm). Also, she has first hand experience in the arts as a performer and teaching artist. Andrea has traveled in Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and West Africa as part of her work.
